Meet the Corwin's

Sharon & Carl Corwin

OK just where do I start?  Do I go all the way back and confess that I was born and raised in California?  Do I fast forward to when I was in High School and run a morning paper route on a Cushman Motor Scooter.  After school I went in the Army and was in the 11th Airborne.  While I was in the Airborne the thought came across my mind. I just wonder how it would be to fly in an airplane and not have to jump out? To actually land back at an airport? I think that is when I decided to try and make flying my life's work.

With the help of the GI Bill I was able to get my Commercial Pilots License. I started Crop Dusting in 1960. I also did some flight instructing and Charter work, but crop dusting was my main source of income.

When I was released from the Army I bought a 1949 Harley and road it till I could no longer keep it going and my flying lessons. It had to go.  That put a stop to my riding till 1980 when I bought a new 1100 Goldwing. As my employer thought that work was more important than my riding I was restricted as how much time I could spend on the road.

After the death of my first wife of 38 years I met a little girl you all know as Sharon. Sharon had lost her husband of 28 yrs a few years earlier. We were married in 1996. I have noticed that she has been on the back of my bike ever since. Well the truth is on some long rides she has been known to jump off  if  I get to close to an airport and get a plane home.

Sharon has two sons. One lives in Exeter, California and one in Reno, Nevada. I have a son and a daughter. My son lives in La Mont, Missouri and my daughter lives in Dayton, Nevada.  Between us we have thirteen grandchildren.  We have one great grandson and one great granddaughter that we lost at an age of eight months.

Since I retired from flying in 1998 I have been able to go on more long rides. Down to the tip of Baja California, all 47 states (somehow I have missed South Dakota).  I put a Suzuki Cavalcade on a boat to Germany and spent three weeks riding in Europe.

In 2005 Sharon and I bought our home in Mountain Home. Sharon had lived in allot of different states. I had lived and worked in only California and did not have a problem with a change. As soon as we got here I found a name in the Gold book and it happened to be Larry Seuling and you can pretty well guess what happened. We were welcomed into Chapter P and our new Goldwing Family.
